Craft beer in Romania: Unfiltered. beer festival
If you ask any Eastern European craft beer enthusiast where to be in the autumn, one event keeps popping up at the top of the bucket list: Unfiltered. Hosted in Western Romania’s craft beer capital, Timișoara, Unfiltered has quickly transformed from a passionate local gathering into the country’s most respected international craft beer festival. In this post a short introduction of this new but flourishing beer event.

How it all started?
The Unfiltered festival was born out of both necessity and passion. Following the disruption of the pandemic years, many iconic beer events and gatherings across Romania dissolved, leaving a massive gap in the country’s craft beer scene. Stepping up to fill the void, Timișoara-based OneTwo Brews decided to launch Unfiltered. Their vision was simple yet ambitious: create a curated event that showcases the best independent Romanian microbreweries alongside a selection of top-tier guest breweries from across Europe.

Unfiltered. is Romania’s leading craft beer festival
After just two years, Unfiltered is widely regarded as one of the country’s largest and most exciting craft beer events. This craft beer event brings craft enthusiasts, local foodies and world-class international brewers together under one roof in Timișoara. The event features exclusive limited-run collaborations, ultra-fresh drops of experimental, festival-exclusive beers brewed in limited batches, street food trucks and live music performances, making it the absolute heartbeat of the regional beer scene.

The 2026 edition of the festival again brings an impressive line-up of breweries to Timișoara. Of the local names, you will meet, of course, the organizer Brew and Bereta Brewing from Timișoara. From elsewhere in Romania, there will be for example Hop Hooligans, Ultima, Clandestin, Anagram, Maktoob and Oriel Beer from Bucharest, Blackout Brewing and Fool Moon from Cluj-Napoca and Bere Noah from Târgu Mureș, Transylvania. The international starts include for example Arpus from Latvia, Sofia Electric Brewing from Bulgaria, Factory Brewing from Finland, Mad Scientist from Hungary, Dogma Brewery from Serbia and Cantillon from Belgium. Sounds fantastic, right?
